Accursed species are non-magical creatures. More specifically accursed species are resistive to magical effects. This attribute is typically referred to as resistance rating. While the resistance rating goes from 0 (normal reaction, as if magic was used on blessed) to 10 (complete immunity to magic). The vast majority of species have resistance ratings below 7 and while the most members of a species have the same resistance rating it is possible that an individual can have a resistance rating higher or lower than expected. Accursed species are broken down into three other sub-classifications. In order from most common to least common:

Monsters: Unintelligent non-magical creatures. Make up the majority of accursed. For a very long time monsters and accursed were synonymous. All monsters have resistance ratings of 7 and below. Even 7 is a feat of individual monsters rather than a monster species in general.

Daemon: (Not to be mistake for Demon) Intelligent non-magical species. Some Daemons have a level of intelligence surpassing that of blessed species. Indeed some Daemons have a understanding of what is happening on Askellion more than the communal knowledge of the blessed species. What is particular dangerous of Daemon’s are also capable of supressing their instinct and manipulating their resistance rating therefore capable of blending in among accursed species.

Abomination: Thankfully small in number Abomination species are in fact individuals. Those unfortunate enough to have witnessed multiple abominations believe that Abomination is a species in and of its own rite. It is unknown whether they are intelligent as they tend to simply destroy all in their path. They cannot be killed, only repelled and even then that is a difficult task. No abomination species has a resistance rating lower than 9 and some are considered to have a resistance rating of 11, reflecting magic aimed at them. Moreover abomination species are known to have an area of effect resistance rating, this magic limiting field having both a general magic resistance and an area where spatial magics are impossible. The exact shape of an abomination is unknown. Abominations consist of a number of phases, each phase bigger and tougher than the last. Any individual which witnesses all phases of an abomination broken on a mental level. When the final phase of an abomination is defeated the abomination is known not to die. The magic limiting field lingering for a time before fading away, swiftly followed by reports of the same abomination appearing again.
