The most common magic object type by far glyphing stones are a major component for modern arcane magic, from which they derive their name. These vibrant marbled stones may be smooth to the touch but exist in a permanently twisting termoil of colour under the surface. The glyphing stones are capable of drawing mid-air from the weilders current thoughts. Initially discovered and used by an eccentric artist they rapidly found their way into the hands of the dying art of the arcane magicians. The glyphing stones responsable for the resurgence of arcane magic, so much so that the two are highly regarded as synonymous. The singlemost reliable way of identifying an arcane magician being to see the presence of at least one glyphing stone.

Normal use:

Glyphing stones are classified by two means. Quality and an attribute called rings.
The quality of a glyphing stone can be easily quantified by the marbling of the glyphing stone. The greater number of the colours in an smaller area and the faster the colours change the better quality. Better quality glyphing stones capable of drawing faster than lower quality ones. Low quality glyphing stones are used for the training of arcane magicians and other such teaching purposes. Medium quality glyphing stones are those more frequently used by arcane magicians in more pratical uses. High quality glyphing stones having little use due to their rarity and the associated price, especially considering that they can draw faster than most minds can comprehend.
Rings is a measure of a glyphing stones size and while range from 1 to 23 rings over 98% of the market is 1 ring glyphing stones of various qualities. The ring of a glyphing stone refrences how many arcane rings the glyphing stone can draw simultaneously. While using a 5 ring glyphing stone is faster than using 5, 1 ring glyphing stones the difference is negligable and only ever shows itself in a contest between arcane magicians. It being far cheaper, and more reasonable to use a larger number of smaller glyphing stones than it is to find a larger glyphing stone to work with.

Kinetic tattoo’s are made of glyphing stones, generally of the lowest quality, which are ground down and used as pigments. While this glyphing ink can be used as a normal ink it is rarely the case due to the expense of glyphing stones. When in glyphing ink is used in the tattooing process it is encoded with a task. Tattoo’s which always point north a common kinetic tattoo. As is a kinetic tattoo which pulses with the heartbeat of a loved one. Despite how common these two kinetic tattoo’s are they can be encoded with almost any simple task. One famed hero reportadly had a kinetic tattoo of a clock on their eye

Relic examples:

  • Heart of iIllusions: The highest quality glyphing stone known to exist. Few have seen it, those that have estimate that if the scale went up that far it would be a 174 ring glyphing stone. The stone itself is very rarely used for arcane magic but instead is used by teams of people to create wide scale illusions without the need for magic.
  • The Grimoire of Ivory Anne: A Grimoire said to be studded with 5 matching high quality 5 ring glyphing stones. An oddity for starters as arcane magic only ever goes up to 23 rings, leaving the remaining 2 rings of space a mystery. An even further oddity in that they are high quality stones expected to be used in glyphing. Not that this is why this object is considered a relic. Ivory Anne is an arcane explorer said to have made ground breaking discoveries in the field linking arcane magic and death. Some stories she found secret to immortality. Others say resurrection. Few even mention re-incarnation. Common belief is that her work was recorded in her grimoire. Many wanting the Grimoire for this reason. No one knows what happened to Ivory Anne. Pratically all stories agree that she no longer walks Askellion, only a handful say that she still resides with her grimoire.
  • Prismatic Mail: A collection of glyphing stones of varying quality and sizes. Primatic mail is known to invalidate all attempts of using arcane magic in the wearer’s vicinity due to the sheer ammount of glyphing stones that make up it’s form. Unfortunately this also applies to the wearer due to the complexity associated with attempting to control that many glyphing stones at once.
