One of the two fundemental types of magic. Classical magic is slow. While the record for the fastest classical magic ever peformed is 1 minuite 30 seconds the record for the slowest arcane magic is around 5 seconds. What Classical magic lacks in speed it makes up for in flexibility and safety. While spells don’t exist in a similar capacity too arcane magic classical magic can be made to peform pratically any task provided the magician knows how the task would be peformed. This can be in the capacity of knowing that the floor would need to be swept to be cleaned or knowing the science behind how lightning works. Classical magic consisting of three main parts:
- Collection: The energy is collected for the magic.
- Calculation: Working out how the collected energy needs to be released for the desired effect.
- Realisation: The release of the collected energy in the calculated manner.
While classical magic is a lot more taxing than arcane magic it is also far less prone to breaking. Indeed any good institution for teaching classical magic will dedicate a large ammount of time to the prediction and control of broken magic. Typically during the calculation stage as energy gathered during the collection stage can be dispersed with relative ease and by the time the magic realisation step takes place there is nothing that to go wrong and common sense states that no one interferes with a classical magicians realisation stage as that only makes things worse for all involved. Even if the intention of the classical magician is the targets death, the target wouldn’t dare interfere with the realisation as in many cases there are worse outcomes than death.
Continuous casting: A technique where collection, calculation and realisation are all peformed simultaneously and the magic effectively becomes self powering. There is one type of continuous cast for every type of energy collection however individuals capable of using them are excessively rare and have all made their mark in history.
