Objects of extreme power, literal wellsprings of magical energy, thought to be tools forged for the Gods if not forged by the Gods themselves. Artifacts are unlike any other object magic in that they often contain multiple magical properties and only continue to develop as they are weilded, although artifacts are often cenerallised around a theme. They have abilities impossible for classical magicians with speeds rivaling that of arcane magicians. Artifacts are magic without equal. Unfortunately Artifacts are both small in number and can only be weilded by human half breeds such as heros.
An artifact can be made, at most, once every 100 years and the method has only been known for 4 of these cycles. Artifacts being weapons which grow explosively in power as they strike down a Daemon Lord. The Artifact magic powered by the residual energy that resided in the fallen Daemon Lord.
Artifacts are not without their weaknesses. Daemon Lords (and seemingly abomonation type accursed) are completely immune to their effects. Not only in ther magical effects but in their capacity as weapons. Areas where artifacts reside are also much more likely to exhibit the effects of the blight. The probability of the blight materialising itself growing exponentially the longer an artifact resides in one place. Even more so the closer the artifacts are to one another. This, coupled with the fact artifacts are impossible to break down, proving to be their greatest curse. While there is the intresting conundrum as to what would happen if a living individual defeated a Daemon Lord unarmed (in that does making them unbreakable grant imortality or does making them unbreakable turn them into immobile objects) attempting to do so is a certian death wish.
